In some of these paintings, I have chosen to extend the paint beyond the canvas to symbolize growing and breaking old and stifling ways with myself. The paint moves outside of the traditional, square (canvas), extending beyond what I’ve been taught; finding freedom outside of convention, tradition, and the past without rejecting it.
